It's very well used, I don't think there's a straight panel on the car. I'm trying to get the owner to go through the brakes and get it running. It hasn't been driven since 1986. If it was a mint resto there would be scepticism, especially when are so many cars coming out of the wood work with debatable history. As it is at the moment it's undeniably the car. You can find all of the incidents around the car which Dennis describes. It still has the holes in the bonnet frame where the bug deflector was once fitted, although they've been welded over on the bonnet skin they're easy to see where they were. I'm seeing the owner and the car again this weekend. I'll see if he's happy for me to post some pictures I have.

Like many people I would LOVE to see some pics. Magnificent history in that car.

Right then. Permission has been asked and granted, so here we go. Here's the car in period.

The car hasn't been on the road since 1986 when the previous owner had finished his restoration on the car, but apparently only drove it twice as he didn't really like it. It's last outing was at AFN. It was originally Adria Blue, although the current paint colour isn't the right shade.



And in the light of day. Don't worry the panel gaps are bad, but not that bad, both lids are released.







The 286 thousand mile drivers seat. In fact the car has had so much use that the chrome has been rubbed off the handles.





This is by far the coolest thing we've found on the car so far. Denis had modified the throttle pedal height and if you look at the wear on the pedal rubber you can see why. Sitting in the car, the throttle is the perfect height for heel & toe.



Denis was 5 foot tall as is Megan, currently sat in the drivers seat she tried it on for size. Apparently it's a perfect fit and she's decided she wants it.



The car now belongs to Tom Pead who also owns Jim Clarks 356, so they're pretty good stable mates.

Fantastic, he would be pleased its in good hands and appreciated. As soon as I saw Jim Clarks car in the photo going down I thought that must have a connection. Thanks very much for the effort in posting all that.

I vote that nothing changes on it and just the mechanics are maintained. It must feel very strange to sit in the seat of this car, with so much Porsche history.

Just amazing, this car is the star of my favourite Porsche book, I can't believe its alive and well, even keeping its jenks bumper mod! Jenks was so inspirational because he wasnt afraid to drive his car everywhere, bashing out the dents as they came.

So here at DDK may we propose; a few UK hill climbs and track meets...over to the nordschleiffe at 35mpg pissing off the truck drivers on the autobahnen, making it from the track to adenau with the engine off...and then over to sicily to report the Targa and thrash the daylights out of it around the hills, knocking a few dogs out of the way....and finally back over to the mainland on the ferry for dinner with Huschke von Hanstein. Not bad for a 5 footer..

So, thanks so much for the pics! The owner must be a serious geezer, with the Jim Clarke car in his stable too..

Wow thanks for sharing, this find is facinating.

I like the rest of you have read alot of DSJ's articles and know the car from the books.

I hope the car comes out so we closet DSJ fans can see it and wonder over its adventures. I also hope its not restored.
