I'm no expert (and about to prove it), but I don't think it works like that. I think (well the internet thinks) that the tranny can two up to 3500kg with a braked trailer.
Wrong place for a towing debate though!

Just had a quick look, they appear to vary a lot depending on spec and you are right, impossible to speculate without seeing the vin.

Fair to say it will be close to the limit. I’m not quite sure how Ford managed to get such a high towing weight on them TBH, it is totally out of kilter with motorhomes where most can only tow 2T max, many only 1.5T

Good point. I wonder if it's the length though. My 7.4m Ducato based motorhome has a massive overhang at the back I think it's 1m longer than the van which might account for it.

Managed to get along to the charming brewery at Bewdley this morning with fellow DDK'r John to meet up with the ever fabulous Model T C cab hotrod from the 70's. Been decades since I last saw this awesome car by Nick Butler.

All running well and on a charity UK tour by it's new owner. Carries a lot of storage damage, surface rust etc to the chrome, but what a machine, way way beyond what what happening in hot rodding in that decade.

Thanks John!

I had the original orange Superlight R that broke the Ring record. I sold it to a friend who has just moved it on after 22 years of ownership. Sold to Millwood, but it's not on their website, it may have sold already.

I remember that as a kid.
Always loved it, it looked just right and still does today!

Glad it (appears to be) registered as a 1978 car rather than many today that somehow manage to use the identity of a much, much earlier car.

It still carries the same reg it had when Nick first built it back in 1977/78. All legally done back then.

Was one of the highlights of my career in journalism getting to ride in that and write about the experience.
