.

Yes Jason - as Sam says, it's 'Quad Al' a Fiat Topolino-bodied dragster with four Allison engines and four-wheel drive.

It just popped up in an old car thread on another forum & I had to search for info on it - just thought it looked like an impressive engineering feat ...

It is an amazing story.
Shame it never reached its potential.
Those Allison engines are now 25k up - no longer 50 - 150 dollars.
There used to be a Roller fitted with just one Merlin engine that seemed to work well.

It is amazing how many American cars there used to be on the roads of the UK back in the 1960s/70s.

From the days when cars were used as intended:

- sadly not a common sight these days - & rare to even see a 250 GTE now as many have been cannibalised as donors for GTO or TR replicas ...

Love the photo.
I like that it looks like it was used as transport for a family holiday.
There used to be one that I regularly used to see round here.

I'm sure I've read an article on that trip, that car, that family with lots more pictures too recently in one of the magazines.

Very evocative picture and romance thrown in.

As with all classics, a dirty one is a good one.
