Love that. Hope he/she has a good jet washing regime as the bottom 6 inches of those love to rust and are a nightmare to repair.Winston Teague wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 10:04 pm I like a notchback....

Back in the day one of my mates had one of the earliest RHD examples, in grey with lovely patina (it was just old back then as the term hadn’t been applied to cars!) and naturally it was on the floor. He looked like Roland Rat driving it, and the name stuck for years. Still my favourite of all our VWs back then

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day
An early 1500S was the first car I was ever in travelling at more than 100mph. That high compression (for back then!) twin carb engine was a real beauty. Rumour had it that when the first 1500 beetles came out in 1967, one of the local dealers’ demo cars was fitted with 1500S pistons and carbs. Quite a few customers were left wondering why their new Beetle didn’t go as well as the demonstrator seemed to …………..!

Maybe the same dealer went on to be involved with the E-type launch, as the are widely reported to have done the same!
