Re: 1973 2.4E Restoration
Another fun day; paid a visit to Nick Fulljames at Redtek - I love this place, full of some very exotic engines...
...beautifully rebuilt and finely detailed....
...their owners seem to be the 'who's who' of the early Porsche scene - there was even the odd 2.7 Carrera lump kicking around although I expect some would have photographed this better ....
I was here to watch the initial stage of my engine being rebuilt - everything was neatly laid out and ready to go ...
Over the past few months the engine has been stripped, cleaned, Line Honed, Shuffle Pinned, Barrels Re-Bored, plated with the crank, throttle bodies, fuel pump etc. rebuilt and is now ready for re-assembly...
I spent an enjoyable couple of hours watching Nick re-assemble the bottom end...
With everything thoroughly checked we're now ready to move on to the top end rebuild...
...can't wait
Cheers,

Thanks Dougie - though all a bit mundane and 'run of the mill' compared to your project Mike

Looks good Darren, it's nice to know it's being built by one of the best. His work is superb. Sounds like a thorough rebuild too. We look forward to seeing progress documented.Darren65 wrote:Another fun day; paid a visit to Nick Fulljames at Redtek - I was here to watch the initial stage of my engine being rebuilt
Ah, the iconic 2.7 MFI engine. Surely Porsche's finest engine.Darren65 wrote:...their owners seem to be the 'who's who' of the early Porsche scene - there was even the odd 2.7 Carrera lump kicking around

Meant to post these with the last batch of shell photos, both looked great - a decision for later ...

That is one fabulous shell you have there. The engine looks great as well. If the rest is as clean it will be awesome.

I so wanted some of that for my garage too but clearly Nick is quicker than me or maybe he just asked for some?Ferry Man wrote:Darren65 wrote:
