Hello All,

Does anyone know where to get a windscreen centre post?
Im getting the feeling that the centre of my windscreen may lift without it. Probably worrying for nothing, but i want one now.

Chesil are taking a long time to come up with the part.
Vintage Speedsters will take a few weeks to get it into the UK.
And Karmann Konnection want £45!!!

Being impatient i want it now! haha.

Any help is much appreciated.

Steve

Get solid piece of stainless round tube, run a die down it on one end or get a local machine shop to do it for you, Bend the other end over 45 degrees and cut a slot in the bent bit. Drill a hole in the windscreen frame, hook the top in and pass through the hole in the dash. Cut a pice of pipe the same angle as the rod to the dash, and you have a washer/spacer. Put a nut on the end and tighten up. Voila

Sorry I meant bend it over 90 degrees, with heat.

Thanks Michael, Was considering making one myself but couldnt figure out the join to the top frame of the windscreen. It proves 'a problem shared' and all that!
Thanks

Bought metal rod, machined and fabricated to measurements taken, drilled, bolted and fitted!!!!
Its taken a whole day of adjustments/searching/cutting knuckles, but ive made and fitted it. Looks brill, works perfectly and massive sense of achievement!
Thanks for all your advice.

p.s, if anyone is in build and considering options on windscreen and mounts;
definately fit the centre post and definately use the rubber feet under the windscreen posts, it allows for slight and justment, fits the body better and looks nicer.

Steve, cant believe you got away without the tension bar fitted. Surely your windscreen lifted at high speed and leaked.

Brian it's the bar that your rear view mirror attaches to in question. Don't worry yours has one, so don't panic

It sounded to me some thing more sturdier than that thin piece of wire the mirror hangs on that is why I asked the question ...Gerry any further on with your car ?

It was an ongoing build really, As long as the Windscreen posts were secure, the gap was covered by the windscreen seal and didnt leak or lift.
Now ive fitted the centre stay, its definately more secure, the roof and the windows fit a lot better and ive got a place to fit a proper mirror.

Will post a photo when i can.
