Changing the fan belt.

Just a quick one, I'm about to change the fanbelt and the manual says stick a screwdriver into the alternator at 12o'clock to lock the pulley shaft. I can find no stop at the top of the alternator but the screwdriver does stop against something at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock.
Is this normal or am I going to damage something if I press on ?

Mike, take a look at page 53 in the drivers manual - your screwdriver tip should rest against a bolt head at 12oclock - I'll see if I can dig up a photo for you

You were right to ask, its a bit odd putting a screwdriver in that slot and expecting to undo that big nut holding the tip against the hidden bolt head. By the way its a dynamo or generator depending on how old you are

Just in case anybody from the future looks to this thread for help, here`s the generator (thanks Roy
) with the pulley removed.
The bolt head at 12 o`clock is what the screwdriver locks against....

..... Bt this is what my generator looks like with the pulley removed. Completely different. Comments appreciated.
