Just remembered to pass this on, those blowers from DT are actually made by Rule and freely available at good prices from marine chandlerys as engine space blowers.

Not sure how you rally people deal with this problem, but are you ok leaving it openable??
Thx for that advice - i might seal up the inside of the smuggler's box so that no fuel can get from there in to cabin. I've used bulkhead fitting for all fuel and oil lines that pass into the cabin and i appreciate your input in continuing yo keep it safe. I think it's more inportant to make the car as safe as possible rather than just to please the scruitneers, i think this way and by using common sense they'll be happy as well.

I also recovered the dashboard after trimming the size to fit - the job wasn't made easy by the rollcage being in place.

Simply use clear silicone sealer.

I converted my 911 from LHD to RHD and to do this you remove the smugglers box as the factory did for RHD. This opens the whole cabin to the front boot/tank etc and a scrutineer came down heavy on me. It was as much because the lid can open if left with just the simple tab that compresses the seal in place.

With a good seal and a screw to kepp it closed he was happy and I've had no probs for 18 years since!
I think silicone to plug that drain hole/gap and a visible screw to keep the clasp in the closed position will satisfy the Scrutes.

Exactly as you say, common sense and a practical solution is all they are after (and compliance to the Blue Book). In fact, I think there is a section on bulkheads in the safety section of the B book.

The scrutes do a great job for us all.

OK so a good bit of the work done and engine and transmission rebuilding at Meryvn Johnstons as we speak, so time to finish of the body work. Mate Ali been back to help tonight and we got both doors on and one front wing. Hope to get the other wing, front bumper and bonnet fitted tomorrow night. If we're happy with that i'll keep the bonnet off until i've finished completely in the luggage compartment. Over the next week i want all body work finished inc all glass etc. I've been spending many hours preparing door frames with new seals refurbishing front and rear indicator clusters etc. All ready to pop in. Car should "look" much better over the coming week.

Wiring next to be considered along with fuel lines - coming together nicely!

What's that hiding in the background? (Martini striped).

That'll be a 3.0sc that had a bit of widening - full RSR bodywork. Car has has a full restoration and needs the interior doing to make it perfect and peachy. It will be for sale at some stage soon. It's an impact bumper car but stunning nonetheless.

Front and rear windscreens in - rear was a nightmare - took 4 hours to get right. Fitting the glass makes such a big difference to the car, i suppose this car hasn't had any glass for years.

Rear bumpers and gaskets fitted and front bumper offered up - looks like it will fit well. Window frames are next on the list. I'd really like all the glass fitted for the end of next week. I've still lots of other jobs to do - FIA rain light, brake lines, wiring - long list really.

Funny you should say that we're in the last push to get the car finished. I've been very busy with work and have an ex Kremer Bros fabricator/mechanic working on it as we speak - a local guy here in NI - what's the chances of that??. Diff will be here early next week so can put engine and tranny in, then its finish of the wiring and plumbing and that should be that. Hope to have most done before the Christmas break then car driving in Jan. Will post some update pics next week.

At last we've got the rebuilt transmission back and now with the engine in the car.

Still lot to do plumbing up the fuel and oil lines not to mention finishing the wiring but getting this far makes a big difference - feels like a 911 again!

Needless to say we're working flat out to get the car ready to go racing this year. More updates as the week progresses.

Many moons ago I fitted the oil cooler and lines to the front of the car but now needed to fit the lines to the engine and oil tank to finish the job. We changed/modified some existing Porsche with some weld on AN12 fittings to allow for a tidier job and connected everything up including to the thermostat and beyond. So now we're just finishing welding mods to a "off the shelf" oil catch tank and will fit it over the weekend - oil lines will then be finished.

Parts arrived today to work on the fuel supply but were wrong so have to return them and wait for new ones - means we won't be waking this girl up from her long sleep for another week. So will look at doing some other work over the weekend.
