Hi

Thanks for all the very kind comments. I am surprised that folk think that this thread is any good at all, I am not a story teller and struggle to make these posts interesting to read. I started this thread so I could document the restoration warts and all and show all the processes and skills that go into making a tired old car, good to go. I have enjoyed the whole process a great deal and am very happy with the outcome.

Richard Murphy has suggested that I finish off the thread with a review of our first adventure with the car which is the DDK trip to Le Mans Classic and I think that will be a great way to wrap the thread up. So I will get the wife to take some snaps and do just that.

Kind Regards

I think it would also be a fitting tribute to this most inspiring of threads if we did a photo collage of John's car. So if anyone has a photo from CLM with John's car in it (& only if John's car is in it) perhaps they could post it on here when we get back.

What do you think?

Fantastic idea Rich - I've expanded on this a little John, hope you don't mind.

John's thread has been a big influence and inspiration for me...this thread sucked me into the 'addictive' world of DDK, it stopped me making many mistakes with my own restoration, it introduced me to Barry Carter who did such a fantastic on both our shells and it's kept me motivated as I go - John is a highly talented restorer and the quality of his work is on a professional level, he's very giving with his time and advice and even allowed me to visit to view his work in progress....

CLM 2012 was a special event for me, I met some great like minded people who drive some pretty spectacular and very special cars - none of them put this baby in the shade though....

John took me for a drive in his car and it goes as good as it looks - it feels deliciously tight, pulls like a train, handles fantastically and has a wonderful quality feel throughout the whole car.

The hours of hard work, dedication to detail and quality put into this project is incredible - great job John, you've set the bar very high indeed

And a few from me from CLM - I also had the priviledge of having a quick drive in the car - feels great, not a squeak or a rattle at all - didn't miss a beat all weekend - and to think what it looked like at Barry's.....

A couple more from the CLM trip. I was lucky to be following John for parts of the journey and his car was a fabulous sight on the roads etc.

It's so much quieter when you keep them in the boot ;)

Enjoy putting them anywhere in the car while it lasts, the child in blue is now over 6'3" and will struggle to fit in the front seat never mind under the bonnet!

Just met John and his fabulous car today when he called round to look at my project. Had a run out in his car and it drives as well as it looks.........spot on. Gave me lots to think about when I get to start my resto. Thanks a lot John, and thanks to DDK what a really friendly forum this place is.....Mark..

Just been updating the thread on Early S and realised I never posted any of Damian Hocks photos on here.
