Wah-wah guitar (very little Porsche content!)

Post by alfacat »

Hello Everyone
In an attempt to encourage my nephew (maybe he'll restore my car, if he makes it big in Japan) in his guitar playing, Jim Dunlop Cry-baby and distortion pedals (that will please my sister) are winging their way too him for his birthday.
"Now whats that got to do with DDK?t" I hear you ask, well some of us drive cars from the 70s, some of us still listen to music from the 70s and some of us still dress like its the 70s (but lets gloss over that last one), so can anyone think of some great tunes (featuring wah-wah guitar) to inspire the lad, now I've "bagz" Parliament's "Up for the down stroke" and "Gotcha" by Tom (Starsky & Hutch) Scott, so come pull on your flares, think funky and let me know your fav raves!

All the best

Ian F.

PS. It doesn't have to be funk, but it must be funky!!!!!

Isaac Hayes - Shaft. Great for playing along to (and therefore learning guitar 'chops')

That's as funky as I get 8) :)

Encourage him to be innovative!

String together his own tunes, own techniques, and he might string together his own fortune which he might share with you! (soon)

Copy a tune to encourage for sure (most 6 stringers can do the simplified Stairways to Heaven, great for the ego and impresses the girls) but from there if he has interest and talent he will innovate.

Good luck to him and you getting a share of the money!

Look at George Clinton's output and go back a bit further than Parliament and you'll find stacks of wah wah in Funkadelic numbers.

lol, I was going to say the same, wah wah is deceptively difficult IMHO, I prefer setting it half open and using loads of overdrive. But then I'm using old valve amps which give a different sound to your modern stuff.

:?:
Are there many guitar nutters in/on DDK?

I have 6 strummers (and valve amps RULE) from cheap to rare to pricey.

Why are all my hobbies expensive? :albino:

Also a guitar nut :)

Latest purchase is a fender jaguar - it's nearly as beautiful as my '12

Don't listen to these guys much these days, but anything by joe satriani/steve vai has loads of wah!
