Recommended tyre fitters in Birmingham area ?

Post by Lightweight_911 »

Can anyone recommend a 'sympathetic'/careful tyre fitter in the Birmingham area ?

I need to have the tyres removed from an immaculate set of refurbished deep six/7R-spec Fuchs & want to use someone who can do it without damaging the rims.

I've previously used a couple of excellent tyre/wheel specialists in the London/Surrey area but would prefer to find someone closer to where I'm based now.

I'm going to try BMTR but has anyone used another company they'd recommend ?

I've bought a lot of tyres from BMTR at hillclimb meetings, and they are always very careful with customers' wheels.
Not cheap, but very good.

Cheers! :drunken:

I've trusted my Dymag magnesium racing wheels to BMTR 6 times now, and they have NEVER damaged them.

Silverline in Warwick are used to dealing with Motorsport tyres and wheels. Never had a problem with my alloys with them. Jerry

I used to use Silverline all the time with for Prodrive work, and my own 911, until we bought our own machine! Always took every care to get it right.

I had always used Silverline until recently when they suddenly changed their attitude
Their last comment to me was if you can get them cheaper go and get them.... now they were nearly £200 out on their price - in fact the OPC was cheaper, so I'd suggest they didn't want my business any longer. I think I must of had at least 6 sets of tyres off them previously!

But hey, BMTR came in spot on the money and being as they fit them for the OPC anyhow did a super job.
In the end I went to their depot in Coleshill, took their time and I have to say the tyre balance was spot on :)

Just an update - I took the wheels/tyres over to BMTR (whom I've bought a few sets of tyres from over the years) this morning & all I can say is ... excellent service (as always).

The guys in the Race Dept weren't even going to charge me anything for removing the tyres (& were quite surprised when I gave them some cash for a drink) !

Highly recommended.
