There is a question that at some point in the 60's the colour of the headliner changed from a 'putty' colour (greyish) to ivory and the hole size (1mm to 1.5mm) and pattern changed from 7 holes per 2 inch (square pattern) to 10 holes per 2 inch (diamond pattern). Do any of your cars confirm this difference?

Most of the aftermarket headliners seem to exhibit the ivory 1mm diamond pattern which should be perfect for 69-73 cars but may not be correct for early cars.

Mike, perhaps you could make a stick with the two respective hole patterns marked one on each side,
which when held up to the headliner would give an indication of the particular hole pattern one had?

In answer to your question, the cloth is 6 holes per inch.
The cars I own have all had the new head liner fitted. The original colour as you have stated should be a putty coloured grey , this is no longer available I think if not world wide, certainly euro wide.
I have had four different head liners made all to the correct hole spacing from 1965-1970. The lining colour I think was changed to ivory about march 68 but I have spotted cars with the putty grey as late as 1971.
I also spoke at length with Dave at southbound he has a NOS headliner in ivory but has not fitted a putty grey one.
I am speaking to a German cloth manufacturer at the moment to try and have the original colour produced, the headliners are great quality and fit very well.

The nearest pattern/colour/hole size/number per sq inch for early cars is apparently still available from Germany from GAHH.
