I've often been called slow (Don't know why....) but I've only just caught up with this thread - fantastic stuff from start to finish.
The simple things you see are all complicated
I look pretty young but I'm just backdated yeah

Hi,

I managed to spend a little more time on the car and it is now almost finished. Work permitting I should also be firing up the engine tomorrow.

We have had these engine bay stickers remade as new ones from Porsche are different colours, incorrect details and some are also NLA. We now also have all timing (fan strap) stickers for all 911 models from 69-73.

I can’t wait to drive it.

Thanks for the comments.

I managed to finish off some smaller jobs today. One being, Recaro sport seats use a plastic headrest insert which are unique to sport rather than standard seats as they are longer. Well on these 3 of them were broken and not wanting to use standard items, we made some. All fitted now and another job finished.

Thanks very much.

I am pleased to say I drove this 2.2S for the first time (properly) today. I had to take it for a MOT which it went through with no problems. I only found time to drive 15 miles today but I the car performed faultlessly and drives incredibly well, a real pleasure.

The end of this restoration is now insight.

Alan,

Superb work, you must be pleased with how it has come out.

One question, not related to the car. How do you watermark your photos, do you have to edit each one or is there a program available that does it automatically to a batch of pictures.

Cheers

Hello Dusty,

Thanks for your reply. With regards to watermarks, my image software (paintshop pro) adds them for me. I am working on the web site and as such I just wanted to add the name to each pic.

Thanks again

Thanks, I have photoshop so I'll have to see if it has a similar feature - sorry for the side track...

You'll have to let us know when your website goes live.

Cheers

With no spare time recently I have not been able to use this freshly restored 2.2S. But today as day light was dying I had another quick drive. Even though I still have the suspension to set up, let the engine run in and subsequent tuning it really is a fantastic car to drive. Very happy....

Hats off Alan, this thread is about the most impressive I have seen.

Hi, the 2.2S is now fully finished. I had a photographer (and fellow member here on DDK) take some pics today as I will be advertising this car for sale in the near future. As a sample he just emailed me one pic which I thought I would post here. What a great day

What a wonderful thread this has been to watch.
We all know this is a great car and will be such a treat for someone soon.

It gives us all an insight to the anatomy of these early cars and their weaknesses over time, but how they can be truely restored as opposed to merely re-built.

Admire not just the skill and knowledge but the sheer determination to see it done to this level in every corner of the machine.

I hope we can see the Next One unfold and enlighten us even further.

Hats off to you and your team. :drunken:
