In my garage earlier this evening.......

Post by Bootsy »

No, not the arrival of my 356 but........

a very nice 72 911T Targa a friend has just bought.

Couple of hours buffing and waxing and it looks a picture. Very clean straight car. Few bits of trim to sort and a new front bumper.

Nice deep black paint, very very straight panels.

Caution spotter comment...

Isn't it a '73? black horn grilles, no external oil filler, 'V' plate?

??? Then again my car is a '72 and that's on a J plate, should be a K.

Sweet looking car, like the chrome roll bar.

There's a few non standard bits on it. The plate is obviously wrong but it came over from Italy.

New sills, paint at JZ a few years ago. Very clean underneath - a good buy

Lovely car - black is my second favourite colour for old Porsches - though I'm not sure how much street cred is added by 'Magic Tree' !!

horn grilles

Post by wudu »

As the owner of said vehicle, i wonder if anyone could tell me whether the horn grilles should actually be chrome - i think they would look cool if they are originally meant to be.

Also, i am looking for a decent bumper and trim and also side trims - any out there?

cheers. :D

Looks like a 73 to which should have black horn grills and black surrounds to the indicator lenses. As its black I think it looks better with the chrome grills and trim. Bumper and side trims are available new from places like
Roger Bray It would look nice with a chrome engine grill as well

The P O R S C H E letters can be fond at www.forestfine.com. ( I don't know about the quality of them).

I vote in favor for crome grills in the front and a engin grill in crome. Typo on the back in gunmetal.

Good luck finding that missing 2,4 badge

I'd go chrome all the way, looks great on black cars.

nice bit of Photoshop work!!! I think they should be in red tho to match the new original interior thats to go in (from Miggs' 912). cheers Miggs!

By the way, does anyone know if there are issues putting a 69 912 (RHD) full interior into a 71 911 (LHD) ?

The seats will go straight in, but wou may have problems with seat belt mountings. all the other trim should be OK as well

Black with red interior. very camp
