Spotify – anyone else tried it?

Post by KS »

Had never heard of Spotify until a couple of days ago – it's a free totally legal music site which allows you to listen to a massive rage of music of all age and genres. Create a playlist and away you go... It's legal as you can't download any of the tracks and all have been given the OK by the record companies.

You can pay a monthly fee (about £10) and get it advert free or you can ask for an invitation from Spotify to sign up for a free service with (very) occasional ads. The problem is that Spotify admits the waiting list to receive your free invitation is long... However...

I was given the link below and, guess what? It works! Takes you straight to the Spotify sign-in page and was using it within a couple of minutes. It's all very clever (and leaves your conscience free, too).

Apologies if this is not considered PC on here, but if you like music in the garage, you'll love this.

OK, back to my Neil Young playlist... :)

Most certainly the way forward for those dinosaur record labels.

Well worth it! Nice one Keith.

I'm a huge fan of spotify - its a great idea and works really well.

havent upgraded to the permium version yet as i can only listen to it on my pc at the moment and i dont spend that long sat on there to warrant it really.

I have heard though that you can listen to it via iphone? that could be good as i could plug my ipod into my garage music box and listen away. i'll have to do some research....

I have been using Spotify (standard freebie version) for about four or five months now and it is a brilliant way of listening to bands and genres of music you might not ordinarily listen to or buy albums/tracks.

So, is the iPhone connection OK? Wonder what the download costs are on the O2 network (are there any?).

Spotify is ace. You can also link your spotify account to last.fm so that you can get some pretty decent recommendations of other artists based on what you listen to. very cool

Spotify is great. Also if you do sign up to the premium service and use it on your iphone, you can also download the tracks you want to you iphone library in itunes, so you don't have to be in a wireless zone.

How the hell is this legal?? the end of itunes is nigh............
