964 RSL (if we are allowed to talk about new-fangled stuff)
Saw this:

Looks nice, probably all OTT with too much money to be recouped through the sale.
Any thoughts?

Its nice but the engine has been modified so much that it will put a lot of people off, which probably explains why its been for sale for so long in different places.gridgway wrote:Saw this:

I think that was what I was trying to say. The cost of the engine mods is clearly huge, so it's very special. However, it's only special if you want that engine.964RS wrote:Its nice but the engine has been modified so much that it will put a lot of people off, which probably explains why its been for sale for so long in different places.gridgway wrote:Saw this:

that type of finish is achievable without photoshop, however the lighting helps with the overall effect..kevdodd wrote:what do they polish their cars with! or are those images doctored in some way!
clicky
..having said that while that type of lighting makes it look shiny, if you've got any swirls, marring, holograming, etc then it will be highlighted by strong sunlight, gas discharge lighting, etc. the pics linked above are un-doctored, however a lot of them are taken with a camera phone so don't really do the finish justice..
as for the car, its nice enough (and i love the colour) but if i were in the market i wouldn't buy it; that engine, the black wheels and all the add-on bodywork bits are just not what i'd be looking for in an appreciating future classic, especially at a 15k premium over j's car which (last time i saw it) was a cracking looking standard car

ps.. jason, 964RSR?! you lucky sod! I had 1/2hr sitting next to ben s. in his at spa last year and it was a stunning machine!

Have to disagree a bit.
Most add cages and minor track better mods yes, but few have the extent of changes this engine has had. It has had a small fortune spent on it to get it as the previous owner specific requirements but its a long way from a standard 964RS engine now.

At that price it's pushing the limit for a '64RS - and at these heady heights, people want originality - this is a better buy IMHO as long as you're not looking for a trackday weapon.

You can't have this interior and go around telling people you own an RS..

Seriously, have you ever looked at the 'coloured' inserts in the Rubystone RS's
Defo not a C2 - it's a real RS under there. The thing with this RST is the rarity value - very little weight difference yet one of six - never seen one in the flesh though. Can't be many left with this mileage - when I sold mine (in 2004 from memory) only had 24k on it
