A sad sight. I have an engine bay extinguisher and a hand held in the car but if a fuel based fire gets hold then even a plumbed in system would struggle to put it out. Being quick off the mark is key. I've witnessed 2 car fires at close quarters and in each case all the extinguishers did was delay the inevitable. I think that is all they are really designed to do in most cases. If they put the fire out that's a bonus.
Looked like a lovely car.
Check those fuel pipe unions regularly !!! Rubber hoses compress and clips get loose. I'm sure leaking/weeping fuel unions/pipes account for most engine bay fires.
