Decided to sell my genuine alloy framed ducktail after all, too precious for me to keep it on my SC. It is in very good condition with no known deterioration, the frame bonding was carefuly repaired before the last spray job. No fiberglass cracks or anything like that. Currently in Minerva blue and has a few usual small paint stress cracks. Please PM for further details. (I know a few people were interested but I managed to delete pms from my inbox so apologies if I have not responded to you)

Are you sure it's alloy framed ? I have a mint one on my RS Rep which is steel framed apart from the centre spar for the lid catch, which is alloy. I think that there were all sorts of permutations going back to the early days.

Frame material has been checked. Definitely all alloy. Please see the thread on the 911 section of the forum. Any inspection is of course welcome.

Wow, that is a great price. I recently paid sigificantly more for an AL tail that needs to be restored. I would imagine shipping to the US would be quite difficult.

Just for interest could you confirm a detail on your spoiler? Is there a thin piece of metal spot welded to the inside of the rear edge of the frame where the rubber tie downs would screwed into the frame? If you use your little finger you can feel if this is present. There should be one near each corner. This is a little known detail that confirms the authenticity of Factory ducktails. Thanks.

From the memory when refurbing it, yes it was present and correct but will double check at the weekend.

Well, you learn something new every day. I never knew about the two little metal plates. Of course I went to check mine and sure enough they are there. There was something else I have never seen as well. On the outer edge of my duck, on both sides immediately opposite to the plates there are two tiny drilled holes which must go straight through the metal plates. Do you know if they were done when new on all ducks or has someone had ties downs fitted and then removed at a later date?

Yes, I think that is correct. If there is a hole through the trailing edge and through the metal plates that means that someone has already put a screw through it. I believe the Touring car ducktails have a pair of indentations for the rubber tie down screws but no hole. I'm not 100% sure on this though.

With a price this low for a nice AL ducktail, I'm not surprised your inbox is full.
