Has anyone recently sold a car to France ?
Do you know the following ?
Does the new French owner pay any duties or French VAT ?
Does the UK seller just inform DVLA and prepare documents for export
Apart from shipping are there any hidden expenses ?
Thanks
Richard

No VAT to pay if the car is used, the UK is part of Europe
You just need to fill out the export part of the V5 and send it off to the DVLA. If it's like Germany, they will need a copy of your drivers license or passport, the rest of the V5, and a sales contract similar to here: http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/ca ... tract.html
The buyer may have some admin fees to pay when he registers the car in France too.

Hi Richard,
Yes I sold my car recently to a French. No vat need to be paid, you just need to keep part 11 of the V5C which you signed and send it to the DVLA.
You give the rest of the V5C to the buyer, he will need it to register the car in France.
That is all!
