Bias Pedal Box

Photograph shows RHD box installed in Historic Rally Car that is just heading to Kenya for the Safari Rally later this year.

This box features a reinforced brake pedal to eliminate the failures that have occurred with some other boxes.
Also the relative position of the pedal face is identical to the standard pedal box and not moved to the left as in other examples.
Can be supplied in either RHD or LHD form with bronze bushes, complete with master cylinders to suit application.
Another feature of this unit is the design of the bias bar.
When one circuit loses pressure due to a pipe of caliper failure the piston of the master cylinder operating this circuit can bottom out and a conventional bias rod fitted with a spherical joint will permit sufficient angular misalignment to prevent the other master cylinder from developing any pressure. This results in a total lack of braking.
Years ago on Excorts we used to put a short length of brake pipe into the end of the master cyliders to prevent this from occuring.
Thie new poduct uses a bias rod which is machined from an alloy steel bar. The centre section is barrel shaped which allows the pivot action needed. To each side of the centre pivot we have machined an 'over travel' collar.
Then function of this collar is to limit the angular displacement of the bias bar in the event of an hydraulic circuit failure and allow the other circuit to be able to continue to provide braking.
The basic system is also supplied with 'jam nuts' so if an adjuster cable is not fitted the bias rod can be adjusted and then locked into place.
(Bias bars without jam nuts and without a cable tend to move during use and auto - adjust bias, which isn't a great idea)
We cann supply a suitable adjuster cable if required.

Unfortunately these boxes are only available on an exchange basis as we are short of core units.
Reservoirs, fill pipes and mounting brakets can also be supplied.
