Decision was made with a heavy heart.
I got a fair price and the buyer got (IMO) a great car.

Well one thing`s for sure, when I woke up on Monday morning, I had no idea that by Saturday we`d have another Porsche in the family. This despite having the most vivid dream on Sunday night... something about trying to fuel a 356 by putting the nozzle in the oil filter. :?

Then on Wednesday evening, an ad appeared here on DDK, for a 356 and I pm`d for pictures... just for Hayley really.

Thursday we travelled to see it.

Friday we didn`t sleep.

Fortunately on Saturday the NHS was closed so we were able to take Mr. 58A-71E down to see the car and ask his opinion. (Thankyou James. :) )

Then we bought it, or should I say her, for Ruby is her name. Hayley`s been looking for a car for a long time now, always wanted a 356 but had pretty much settled on finding a nice Karmann Ghia. As you can imagine she is very very happy.

Yes you`re right the ariel is a bit wayward.

And so she is the proud owner of a 1959 A 1600 Super and just as I was starting to learn a little bit about 911s, I`ve got to start from scratch again with 356s. (First lesson don`t put fuel in the oil filter)

Here`s a couple more shots.

I`ve only driven a 356 once before and that was for just a short time. Driving this car is a revelation, so different to a 911. So smooth and so easy to drive. I can see you have to book early to do any overtaking but that just adds to it`s charm... a completely chilled driving experience, I love it.

Thanks go to Richard (shortwheelbase) the previous owner, selling a car like this is always going to be a wrench but you`ve made my wife a very happy woman, It was pleasure doing business.

Garaging looked to be a bit of a problem but after a day throwing stuff away the arrangement is snug but works pretty well.

Regards, Mike and Hayley.

Congratulations to you both. It saved me having to buy the (almost) twin to my car. Did I start something when I let you try mine for size Hayley?
