This is a 356C that I am currently restoring. ALC551A might be familiar to some DDK members in West Yorkshire. It spent it's latter years in red paint although it has also been blue and at least two different greens before that. It's original colour however, was Light Ivory and that's what I've returned it to.

If you've got a few minutes to spare, this should take you to a series of build history photo's.

Indeed, Steven's old car, tried keeping up with this on a couple of Northern runs 8)

Kalvin,

I like the work you have carried out on the "C" it now looks much better than when I think I owned it in the middle of the 1970's. It ran very reliabily then although the rust which you have sorted had started then. The gearbox had I believe a broken tooth on reverse but never let me down.

I bought it for £275- in 1974 and it ran with number 53JGN I sprayed it the second green the other green was a metalic darker green. ( I actually thought the original colour was Irish Green but must have had that wrong.)

I sold the car because the drivers door hinges had to be held on by fibre glass ( no doubt you saw this ) and I used it on a daily basis from Worthing in Sussex to Horsham where I worked.

I also had then a 59 RHD super75 which I still have. After selling 53JGN I purchased gas welding equipment and spent much time working on my "A" which still runs well now.

You really have made the car look nice and I am pleased its still on the road.

This is my first mail to this interesting forum so I will say hello!

Was going to add a few old photos but didn't read first the instructions on how to upload them on this site? Anyone give me an idea on how get them on from "my documents"?

Thanks Roy

My 356C is pretty much complete now except for a fitting a few bits of chrome. I know it's my job to restore cars but this is my benchmark restoration and I'm quite proud of what I've achieved. So here's some pictures.

Hi,

Here is a pic of my RHD '59 coupe restoration. Just got windows and interior to go now, headlining went in this weekend. Hope to be on the road this summer!

Image

An AFN car - I bought it as an unfinished bodged project in 2004. The guy I got it from sold it to me as an ivory super and I built it as such. Sadly I have since found out it was an aqua marine normal, although it has had a super engine and ivory paint since '62. It has been off the road since '71. I have done all work myself except the paint & prep. Here is a pic of it when I got it, load of stuff missing, caked in filler and with a bent front nose.
