Hello :)

MY name is Gary. I'm located in Hants, UK and I have a 1959 356A RHD coupe.
It's never been on the road since before I owned it (12 years? at least) which is the most depressing thing but it's the only car I ever wanted so it will get done, however long it takes.

It's pretty rough but it's getting there. I don't have the original engine but it came with a 1955 1500cc 356 engine, which is fine by me.

I'll try and dig out some photos to post in the 356 section.

I'm trying to raise funds for the restoration by selling pictures and some other stuff I've produced.
I'll add a post to the 'traders selling' soon enough, if you're interested.

Anywho, here I am. Wish me luck.

It's in there somewhere!!

Joking apart (and it is really in there  ) I'm really careful with it and although it looks horrific, it's pretty well protected in there.

Ho hum

You need to do a Boot Sale down Bursledon op Tesco's and Rent a garage from the Council in Warsash for £10 a week then you can get started...

if i were you I would be gettting the car out and starting make a list of parts you need as parts have really shot up and my mistake was trying to keep every thing else going and now parts I saw for $100 are now $1000 !!! so I would get a list sorted and tryand pick some of the bits as you go..

Welcome to the forum I think this is a great and interesting project..

we need some pic's though

Helen - yes, drums. Something else I wish i had more room / time for :(

Bootsy - Thanks

Hot 66 - Yes it is. I also bought 356b.co.uk & 356c.co.uk . Seemed like a good idea at the time 8)

Timo - Something's in there. I just hope it's still my 356. My wife might have sold it and carefully packed cereal boxes in it's place

Mark - I have most of the thing's I need (more or less) to get it on the road.
I have all the panels now and i bought a stack of stuff from KK about 8 years ago (when i had money, no kids or mortgage )

I do need a rear NS spring plate though. Someone has welded mine back together which can't be good

Cheers for all the replies & good wishes
ps. I have several shed's, a 'full-to-the-roof' VW camper / mobile shed and my loft is full to bursting. I need help!

I had my panels custom made by a true metalwork / early porsche artist. They are red though, because i painted them :)

Thanks very much for that offer. I'll mail him and see what he says. Excellent.
Thanks for such a warm welcome.

Thanks Mark - hadn't thought of that although it would make me a tad scared putting my pride & joy in some Lewisham council lock-up

I may have got it sorted though - if I play my cards right between now and the weekend Annabel may let me park it in hers (shhhh! she doesn't know this yet! )

Now I am booting Steve out into the snow I can get to keep my car in my garage having finally fessed up to owning it!
DS convertible now sold (sob)
Cash in hand to restore the Abarth and the 911 fully assimilated into the family.

Gary good luck with your project but try as I can I cant see a car in there.
Seems to me that buying a RHD A 12 years ago was a wise investment and well worth getting on with.
Ex drummer myself too with a lovely 7 piece Tama kit in the loft.
