DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

Well folks, it's that time of year again already (can't believe it ).

Anyway, what are our thoughts for this year?

1) Stay with Macmillan.
2) Find a new Charity.
3) Split between more than one charity.
4) Not do a charity at all.

Also, whatever we do, you also need to decide who runs it.

For my money, I like the idea of staying with Macmillan, as we're now beginning to be able to look back at a pretty serious amount of cash raised for a small on-linecommunity .

I'm quite happy to continue with the administration as well. Just out of interest, I've no direct link or relationship to Macmillan, or any of it's staff. I like to support them because someone close to me is on remission from lung cancer, not because I fancy one of the admin girls (lovely as they are), as was recently suggested .

On the other hand, if we think that the time has come for a change (either in admin terms, or the charity), then that's fine as well. If we change the charity, I'm happy to admin that, or if someone else fancies a go, then that's cool as well.

I like the idea of sticking with them. Their work touches so many and as you said Barry, the sum we have now raised is significant. Thanks for sorting this out.

We can of course donate to other charities as well, case in point the 912 Winter Warmer who's proceeds are going to a Childrens hospital in Guatemala.

It's all good.

this cheque raised quite alot of attantion and remarks (all good) at the NEC show.

and i still have a box of their findraising stuff which it would be good to be able to make use of in 2009.

Not quite sure where the other various charity threads have gone for 2009, perhaps they've got the chop .

Anyway, I've just been putting our efforts for 2009 to bed, and once again the DDK clan have come up trumps .

I won't list individuals, suffice to say, against a general backdrop of very supportive DDK'ers, there have been a number that have gone above and beyond the call of duty once more. You know who you are, we know who you are, and you know that we know . Well done.

Anyway, our total for 2009 is £1918:00p!!!

As usual, just about all of the donations have been Gift-Aided, which would take the usable amount to nearer the £2500 mark. A pretty good effort given the economy during this period.

So, Macmillan again for 2010?

I've already mooted the possibility of another Sheet Metal Weekend, and I'm sure there will be other ideas and opportunities as the year pans out .

BTW, We did have our previous grand total knocking about somewhere, but I can't seem to find it anywhere . I know the total that has been through here is £8671.00p mostly plus 28% Gift-Aid, and out of interest, that's ninety cheques through here so far, many of which are bulk cheques as a result of many smaller donations (e.g. Paul's chocs), where the organiser has sent me a total. Don't forget that many of the major payments (cars auctions for instance) have gone directly to Macmillan.

Either way, I'm pretty confident that with the Gift-Aid element, we must be fast approaching the £30,000 mark now.

Not bad for a buch of maverick reprobates .

Forgot to say, particularly for newer members who might not have seen these Macmillan threads before:

All payments taken here are in the form of cheques directly made out to 'Macmillan Cancer Support': i.e. no cash / Paypal or cheques made out to me accepted (even to my extensive offshore portfolio ).

All cheques sent through here are recorded, and any donation / Gift-Aid notes are included in my file.

The DDK file is always ready to be viewed should anyone wish, and I'd always be delighted to bring it to an event for auditing (sp?) at any time.
