Macmillan: look at this total!!!

Post by Barry »

Hi folks, remember me?

The other day I realised that the NEC 'do' was fast looming, and that I'd promised Helen some Macmillan goodies including a giant (dummy) cheque with the current grand total of what the DDK crew have raised to date right from the start.

You're not going to believe this:

2006: £9127.50
2007: £2219.00
2008: £7500 (auction).
2008: £1210 (1st batch of cheques)
2008: £1650 (2nd batch of cheques)
2008: £403 (3rd batch of cheques)
2008: £245 (4th batch of cheques)
2008: £216 (5th batch of cheques)

Therefore, so far in the last three years, DDK have raised ......

£22,570.50 !!!

In addition, almost all of the cheques that have passed through my hands have been Gift-Aided, which adds at least a further 28% to these donations.

PLUS, I know there have been many donations that have found their way direct to Macmillan from individual members.

I'll give a breakdown of where the 2008 monies have come from when I get a while to transfer the details from the (hand-written  ) file to the proper DDK thread, but just had to post the total, as I hadn't realised quite how much had been raised.

Quite amazing.

I've got that "double nugget" video and I'm happy to auction it on here and donate the money. Reckon I'll get more than £2. I paid £20 for it, so I hope so...

Fantastic result on the donations though - it's a charity very close to me for personal reasons and I'm absolutely delighted to see that figure. It says a lot about the people that make up DDK that we can raise such a figure. Well done all. :occasion5:

I'll do a press release to the Porsche and Classic press in the next couple of weeks. KS, Martin etc. - want to cover something?

I'm up for shooting the massive cheque. Maybe we could take it out to Wales and get some photos of it going sideways on the Evo triangle, and parked-up on a mountain at sunrise.

Maybe a group test with other comedy-size charity cheques?
