Thinking about giving my 'Fuchs' a good clean-up. Not a major refurb, just a good polish, and a lick of paint, and some elbow grease.

Can any one recommend a polish and black paint to use.

Since then, I dicovered Autosol, which is better.

Unless the rims have already been polished, or you really want a lod of work, don't polish them, they were originally anodised and should only be cleaned with soapy water, possibly panel wipe or thinners, no cleaning chemicals, which stain the anodising.

I have edited muy original post, it should read "they were originally anodised" not as I had typed "they were originally polished"

The black pieces you encounter on your original wheels is wurth satin paint, on top of an anodised base.

Aluminum can be colored in the same process after anodizing the surface, this way the color sticks very hard. And some early fuchs I've seen/had it like that, but they might have been old copies too.

On some earlies I've seen, the paint level is on the same level on the outer diameter (how to say, inside tyre?) that it was at the spokes. From this I presumed they had been dipped to coloring agent, or paint, not sprayed. I wonder if I've got pic's some where.

I decided to go a different route. The original finish was annodised, but I wanted to polish mine. I manged to do it all myself. I saved quite a bit of money but it took me ages.
