End Float

Post by Ren »

Hi all, Ive just looked at setting the end float and get either with a 0.95 shim - 0.2 float or with a 1.00 shim - 0.13.

I know the factory limits are between 0.18 - 0.13.

I have in the past had a problem using 0.13 float, when the engine got hot the shim dug in to number 1 bearing.

From experience, what would you all suggest.

I remember some thing about this in the past when you said about this. I can't understand how it would have happened I wouldn't have thought 1mm would have been too much of a problem esp if it put the float with in the factory tollerance.

end float

yes 1mm shim gives 0.13 end float which is the lowest limit to the factory tollerance. Its just that last time it was a bit to tight but because the shims go up in 0.05 amounts I can only then go to 0.2 which is just outside the factory upper limit. I am using the dial and feeler gauge method at the flywheel with engine all bolted together and finished so supposed the extra 0.02 is operator error making the end float 0.18 which is in spec.
