I'm sure that most of you had a look at the two RS's for sale at Le Mans Classic. So what did you think of them? BTW the asking price for each was €225000

I loved the colour of the touring.

I'm sure someone will have the perfect answer, but why did the lightweight with black centres to the wheels have silver centre caps and the touring have black ones!?

That orange one was the car for sale at Essen (by the owner), un-numbered cases but a nice enough car. Not superb, just nice.
It was on offer for just €220,000 then.
Those were the days when they were really cheap.
Now look, you'd have to pay €5,000 more. The market's gone mad in the last few months.

Our resident RS expert /dentist -with -the- fake -rep had a list as long as my arm (monkey arm) with detail deficiencies.

both of these were originally Tourings

which is why the yelllow one has something cheap about it, as the cost of the cill trims, and proper interior would add costs, all a bit daft if you're asking so much money when selling

I only noted about 3 things wrong with the orange one, Mike got into double figures I recall, not least the colour which was way too peachy in real life

nice enough but wrong none the less

I think it is unfair to bash someones car if there is a genuine need to sell. I have said more than once on this forum that we can sometimes overlook the circumstances of a needy sale and jump in with quick criticism. However if someone is looking for genuine advice on a certain car there are more than one or two experienced people on this forum to help a prospective purchaser make an informed decision. There are body, engine and trim experts here in abundance who have years of experience and I'm sure would help any purchaser.
In this case it does appear that two cars have been put forward as genuine top quality (judging by the prices) cars for sale by a dealer rather than an individual and as such you would expect a top quality job for your money. Any prospective RS purchaser with serious intentions would look over these two cars and be disapointed with the level of detail for the money. I would think at the very least you would want to spend NOTHING more at those prices to have a car to be proud of. I think privately we worked out that a few thousand pounds would need to be spent on each car to get several things right.
I am pretty sure each car was a Touring originally although I did not even check the chassis numbers. Andy was kind enough to text the colour from the code plate on the 'tangerine' car because we thought the colour was 'off'. If anyone is interested in buying either car I can pm you more details.

Regards
Mike

It sits a bit high at the front, too. I'll just pick holes in it since it's such a massive heap of cash.

That said, even I know lightweights don't have sunroofs, and I don't know much...

The Tangerine car depresses me every time I look at the (27) pics I have got of it. I so wanted this car to be great...... I have e-mailed Claude three times to try and get the chassis number and the story of the engine, each time he says 'buy the car and I will tell you.'! Plus, I think that it is way overpriced. Brian had a guess at it being '0188' but I'm not sure if this is correct.

You can check out its resto on 356Speed.com, but if you compare those pics with the pics of Paul64's '0024' resto on Freisinger-motorsport.de, you can clearly see the difference in 'quality' shall I say?
As stated on my RS thread I have become much more circumspect at mentioning prices, but even with my limited knowledge, I have noticed that the 'good' Tourings available have stabilised a bit, and at a wedge lower than these two.

I have also been alerted to at least two RST's that have 're-appeared' after brief 'ownership', and suddenly six months later they cost more. Likewise, the RST's that shift between dealers and re-appear at a higher price........

I am happy looking for an RST, and letting the Popstars fight for the RSL's, and I have become somewhat innured to the prices......

As stated by Mike, I have been greatly helped by PM's from those much more knowledgeable than I on this site, and Mike is included in that list, thanks Mike.

But, if I was looking for a good 'S'.......has anybody seen what a certain 'auto-agriculture' dealer wants for their Hellgelb 'S'? Now that's startling, not saying anything but the national speed limit comes to mind.

Nice car that yellow one.
It was cheaper last time around (Silverstone last year).

Ahem.

I think Left4Dead is referring to the fact that yet again we have to be pm'ing about history's that don't match the blurb......

I hope!

Not bad growth for a year! I've been told that it is very nice but not perfect. The T+S prefers the 'S' to any of the RS's.......
BTW. I'm digging a lot of your pics, really good.
