Early Parcel shelf remanufacture

Post by 912jeff »

Hi we have nearly finished the tool to press out new pre 71 rear parcel shelves and seat backs.

We need 4 ourselves for various jobs, and was wondering who else needs one, so I can keep costs down, and make them as a batch in one go.

Forgot to say the panel will be made in one piece,(without the join near the seat top) and the cost is £350. Qty discounts are available.

regards Jeff

Heres a picture of the tool before it is cast, It will be pressed flat, and then curved to reduce tooling costs

I am aware that this is the slightly later shelf but it will fit the early, 65 on cars. depending on requirements, the tool can be modified at a later date for the earlier style

Parcel Shelf Re-manufacture

Post by fetuhoe »

Well we finally have an acceptable casting for the tooling. We had to reject the first casting due to porosity and the second one caused some other problems and wouldn't machine flat to mount to the steel plate.

This one is fine and we will press panels as soon as we can book time on the press which we are desperately trying to do before the holiday.

 nice work fella.. I am sure over time people will buy these as you have to either make them eg patch or get a donor car..

That looks great, they are sand castings right? Did you do the pattern work yourselves?
