Zenith carb electricky switch thing - what does it do?

Post by MdR »

What is this for? On my engine when the throttle is shut the adjustment screw doesn't touch or work it.

Probably a buzzer that tells you that your neanderthal foot has fell off the throttle pedal. Probably been disconnected, best get it fixed ;)

You are the reason I started the topic subject with the word Zenith... 8)
So the fact that the screw doesn't touch it when the throttle is shut is A Bad Thing?
I get a lot of popping and crackling on over run - reckon this is partly to blame?

Chuck it all away. Blank the whole circuit off. See Gary's web page. It was the best thing I ever did to mine.
Chances are that the diaphram's are broken anyway !!
Seems crazy to dump in extra fuel on the overrun !!
(And the speed switch is the same one used for MFI BTW  )
Cheers

Ah. Ha. I feel a for sale ad coming on
To test it is it just closed/open circuit?

Use a 12V fed sidelight bulb to the "1" connector. Bulb should light above 1500RPM or there abouts.

Yep. The diaphragms on mine were fine, but the system is shite, pointless and a terror to adjust. Take it off the car!

Your popping and banging could be a points problem - mine was a rolling soundtrack replica of the Western Front until I fitted electronic points. Was probably the best thing I ever did to the car...

just came across this and looked on the net for the advise from Gary but cannot find it.
Can anyone direct me to it as I have just started to look over the engine and seen that my linkage doesn't touch the switch either although it is running badly at the moment anyway due to the previous owner not running it for 4 years and seeming to adjust everything just to get it started
