Decided to stick with my plans for the 'S' brakes on my newly refurbished and custom valved Bilsteins.

Duly sent to Classicar and returned within a week - good service.









Are DS3000 the pads to go for (assuming they do this size) ?

Make sure you put some rubber tube between the brake pipe and the caliper!!

I've used Classicar a couple of times now, and have been very impressed.

Question what rubber tube, and where does it go ?

Also, yes they are in Cheshire, and thanks Alan, but I will leave them as-is for now as they have I believe been pressure tested and are ready to go. Not sure on the finish, I just sent them to be 'refurbed'.

Its a short rubber hose about 2-2.5cm long by about 2mm thick that
stops the brake pipe from touching the caliper. Its cut along its length, so you can push it over the brake pipe.

Just stops the two rubbing together and probably allows for some cooling?!

Based partly on the opinions in this thread I sent my M calipers to Classicar for refurb. I'm very happy with the results.



They reconditioned my existing calipers as requested, but one word of warning: I left my banjo clips on the fronts by accident and the calipers came back without them.

To Classicar's credit they did send me some new ATE ones with copper washers (see pic) free of charge.

Nice new pistons (put in at 20 degrees as requested), seals and fixings. Zinc plating. Around £58 ex vat per caliper.

I drive past these guys almost weekly and if you time it right they can turn a job around in 32 hours or so. Quite a small operation, but from the stuff ready to go out last tiime I was there, they do lots of (non-Porsche) trade stuff as well.

They've done me two sets and I've been very happy with their service

Slightly OT, but here goes.

Does anybody have a source for the S caliper banjos and banjo bolts? Are they the same as the ones on 356 drum brakes? Also a source for the (fibre, are they?) washers would be great!

They really sorted me out when I had an MOT failure on the front caliper a few days before the Spa trip. They turned it around in 2 working days (although note it wasn't a full rebuild, only the pistons & seals)

However, the service was great and they did exactly what they said they'd do, when they said they'd do it. And they're in Macc, which is where I went to school

Porsche sell these parts. Do not use fibre washers in your brake system, get the correct copper washer from Porsche or Wurth or.....

What a fantastic commendation for Classicar.
Reading all that praise makes you understand they must be an excellent supplier.
Great to see so many kind words. I'd certainly use them.

They are one of those suppliers with no web site, no flash buildings (just the opposite!), and good old school customer service.

I've used them twice myself (they are also fairly local) and can't recommend then enough.
