Tyres for a 912

Post by rafiki »

I have the chance to purchase 185/70 x 15" wheels for the 912. Will these fit?

Advice, please.

I believe 185/70 x 15's are the correct original size tyres for a 911/912 so they should fit fine. They can be difficult to get hold of these days and when they are available can be very expensive so if they are a good price and quality then go for it.

Many thanks...I'll now go for them.

I might even go for the whole lot, if they're that difficult!

185/70's are original size and quite hard to get hold of at a reasonable cost
Most people go for 195/65 - same (almost) radius, a much wider choice and more cost efective (last time I looked 185/70 Avon's cost the same per wheel as Kumho's per set!)

depends if you are running 5.5 inch rims or 4.5

a 66 car is more likely to be 4.5 therefore 185's may be too wide.

I run my car (4.5 inch steels) on Michelin XASs 165s

yep and 5.5's are best on Modern 185/65's

I run Dunlops at £38 each. Proof is in the pudding at Silverstone last year.. Ask Barry

They are 5.5"

And I dare not reveal what tyres they are (competition style) or how little I paid...but less than retail.
