'0024' arrival...

After a short delay, '911 360 0024' should be complete and ready to pick up from Freisinger's on the 2nd Feb. and brought back to the Wirral for registration.... arse getting nearer the edge of the seat now, for sure!
I have been reading with interest the back-pages of the forum on the insurance available and I think that should be sorted this week however, all the Companies I spoke to so far are only interested in insuring the car after arrival in the UK.
Has anyone bought a car in Europe and had similar problems with insurance for the couple of days cover to see it safe into the UK?
Your thoughts would be appreciated....

Can't help you with the insurance question,sorry.
Looking forward to seeing photos of your car on arrival. Are you driving it back or transporting? Please do not forget to post pics on here.

Paul - I have not insured a car prior to it arriving in the UK but AON, my insurance broker, has allowed me to insure a number of early 911's on the chassis number (for a maximum of 2 weeks in each case) prior to UK registration in order to allow me to get them MOT'd.

Have done the same with Aon .....from Germany.However i belive u can register in Germany for minimum 2 weeks locally [used to be called zoll plates ] and buy insurance at the same time, not expensive ...............surely Freissinger can advise ?
Is this the blue lightweight ?

Hi Guys, thanks for the info on the insurance - I think I have heard of the zoll plates before; I'll check with Manfred this week.
I'll be driving it back - nice little running-in trip along the top of France I think and a ferry over to Dover.
It's not the lightweight, it's the yellow touring though the photos on the site are a little behind...

I'm surprised that the UK insurers are not covering you in transit as it were...mine in 1997 (Mayfair) were perfectly happy to cover me from France to the UK...

don't know about Importing but A Manning are insuring my 356c on the chassis number for 30 days to give me time to transport it and get it registered with the DVLA

You can easily get export plates here in Germany for 14 days or a month for small money, but the car has to be road legal (TUEV, equivalent to MOT).

It looks well on schedule for delivery on Feb 2nd
It looks fabulous, and the best does take some time. Hopefully it will be ready for springtime.

She is actually on suspension and wheels now however, it will indeed be a bit late - mid Feb - though I won't be able to collect it till beginning March due to work commitments.... any volunteers??
