Ah man these calipers........

Right, tried to re-assemble one of these, and got it back together, but the piston didn't slie in easily as it said it woold on the instructions. I used some 800 w/d to remove some surface corrosion from the piston, but maybe the cylinder surface is corroded too.....
Ah I just want it done!

when I rebuilt my rear callipers the other week I had the same prob. I had to use a 'G - clamp' to get them back in. Not sure if that was the correct thing to do, but when they were reinstalled & the brakes bled all seems to be fine & the callipers don't bind like they used to. (although i suspect they still have a little bit of 'stickyness', as the rears still appear to get a bit warmer than the fronts)

When I rebuilt the calipers on my old 914/4 I had to wet & dry the piston & bores too. I also found the hardest bit was getting the piston to go back in square, that obviously made a hell of a difference to the amount of force required to seat them.
