1973 Porsche 2.4 S RHD Targa SOLD

Post by Mike »

SOLD I'm posting this for a friend, its a car I have driven and would recommend. Contact me for an honest appraisal or call Rick the owner direct.

Rick say's:
This is a very original 2.4 S believed to be a matching numbers car. One of 22 2.4 S RHD Targas originally imported into the UK and 1 of 11 still on the road. When I purchased the car four years ago it had been off the road for 10 years stored in a garage up in Inverness. Since purchasing the car it has undergone an extensive restoration including a full re-spray in its original colour, all the suspension and brakes being stripped and refinished with all the bushes and rubbers replaced, a top end engine rebuild with the heads being re-machined with new valves and valve guides. Sections of the interior have been trimmed and a new carpet set was fitted. Every detail of the car has been kept original down to the orange stitching in the seat belts and its original factory fitted recaro sports seats. The only missing detail is the original steering wheel which unfortunately was missing. Since all this work was completed I have done about 5000 miles in the car and although it is in good condition and very good mechanical working order it still needs a little extra work to bring it up to concourse standard. The car is now being offered for sale at £24,995 with a folder full of history and the original drivers manual.

sadly, after being offered at a great price to a couple of DDK'ers, it went for the asking price to a dealer :(
cheers, Mike.

why was it so cheap ?

If the car is a good one I'll expect a HUGE mark-up from the dealer as 2.4S's are selling for very strong money

It did look very nice - had been advertised on Neil Bainbridge's site for £32k for quite a while.

As for current prices it did seem a bargain but there is still a significant gap in values of Targas vs Coupes in the UK.

I went to look at it on Tuesday afternoon on the way back from the Netherwood Hotel and was told it was already sold, sight unseen. I didn't see the car as it had a cover over it, so can't comment on it.
