(off the record) Larrys been told that unless i stop posting negative things about Porsche/PCGB (im convinced it the same thing) then they may not be able to allow him to become a Director.

Being a bit new to all this porsche thing, I was considering joining PCGB. Picking up just a hint of a vibe that my kind of project may be frowned on over there (911 hotrod
).
Is it part of the induction that they boil me in oil?

its a sad state of affairs when free speach is sensored. On the PCGB forum, I find your posts very helpfull & you have highlighted a serious problem with respect to the deposits at OPC. This is waht a club should be about. Members helping out other members, even if its just a warning to watch their backs when doing a deal with OPC
If the PCGB / Porsche UK don't hear the bad stuff as well as the good stuff how can they change? The customer is always right.

to be serious for a moment (most un-like me) the PCGB has got a lot of old boys who are very set in their ways ("i don't understand why the clubs need this new fangled electrical communication thinggy the club worked perfetly well using carrier pigeons in my day")still running it from on high. and people seem to be scared stiff of offending them.
these old codgers resend the younger generation joining the club. are disgusted that they have the nerve to buy old cars and even worse women are now also buying Porsches (what ever next ) new cars ofcourse are not real Porsches anyway so shouldn't be allowed access to the club.
this attitude has scared a lot of people off taking part in the club which is a great pitty as if you get yourself involved in the PCGB you can meet a lot a very nice people, enjoy great events and enjoy your car even more.
a hardy, (growing in numbers)few of us, have decided to stay and fight from the inside, to inprove the club and try to make it a lot more welcoming and hopefully dispell this "old boys Club" image.
Larry (my husband) has applied to become a director from this sunday,i know all the current directors are very worried by this and im sure are seeking ways they can stop this happening.(this week-end is going to be interesting)
If Larry does make it past the rigged voting system, then i don't expect him to be able to make any drastic changes over night. it will be a gradual process.
I should also point out that the average PCGB member sees none of the club agro, they just enjoy the events and have a good time.

BTW, I don't think the PCGB is as bad as we sometimes make out. I really enjoy the Porsche Post magazine & I'm really looking forward to the PCGB benifits at Classic Lemans & the Porsche Festival at Brands Hatch.

i can see what your saying helen
but i personally think porsche has got there little fingers in the pcgb (£££££) if you saee what i mean and as soon as someone slags porsche off they throw there dummys out of there prams

I'm with you there, all the people I've chatted to on the classic and 912 register have been very helpful and knowledgeable too (although 90% of them are now on DDKBTW, I don't think the PCGB is as bad as we sometimes make out. I really enjoy the Porsche Post magazine & I'm really looking forward to the PCGB benifits at Classic Lemans & the Porsche Festival at Brands Hatch.
