I thought that the 56 model 356A had a bent screen for one year only but I could be wrong.
The information I have been given is that the 56 356A looks like a PreA but is lighter and as we are trying to build a lightweight race car it seemed the best option.
The bent screen is important to us and if the 56 A doesn't have a bent screen |I will give up and buy a 54 car I have been offered.
Help!
Thanks

Chris,
Not being a 356 anorak but with the benefit of the Boschen/Barth "das grosse Buch der Porsche Typen" and the Mark Bongers "porsche and Ruf Sportscars"with me, it states in both sources that for model year 56 the "windscreen is from now on in one piece and it is curved (panorama)."
The pictures show a curved one piece windscreen that is similar to the later 356 types. The "bend" or "knickscheibe" version was offered until model year 1955, thus making it a pre-A model feature .
*edit* please note I used model years; from memory this might run from January to December as that was the case with the early911 until 1967, but requires confirmation. It is also possible to have found a 1955 spec bent preA 356 which was registered in 1956 etc so caveats all the way!
Hope this helps,
Bert
