This is a subject that gets discussed endlessly on Pelican. It's different for every car and may mean that you have to roll the arches

Miggs - why would you want to put 205/70 tyres on your car ?

Yes, but 205/70 ?

If you're going to fit wider tyres on the rear & want to keep the overall diameter similar to original typical sizes are:

185/70 (or 195/65) front & 205/60 or 216/60 on rear.

Overall diameter of a 205/70 x 15" tyre is 1.1" larger than 185/70 x 15" & 1.3" larger than a 195/65 x 15".

With a front tyre size of 145/70 x 15" the car will already be over 1" lower than std ride height at the front.

Fitting 205/70 x 15" tyres on the rear (if they fit without rubbing) will give an overall difference between front & rear tyres of more than 3".

Then lowering the front suspension further ... !!!

What size front/rear wheels are you planning to fit ? (I thought you were going with 6 x 15" all round) ?

I have 2x Michelin XZX 145 x 15's Both 5mm tread left, if you are interested.

Only problem is they are only SR rated.

I had them on a pair of 5.5J Fuchs and ran them at 120mph on the M1 on the way home from Bugjam. Not bad for a Type1

Not wanting to sound like a 'kill-joy' but -

I hope you people running significantly undersized/oversized/lower speed-rated tyres on your Porsches don't have any accidents (or if you do I hope you've told your insurance companies about your mods)...

... if your car is badly damaged & requires examining by an insurance assessor before getting repaired, chances are they will either require you to pay a significant portion of the claim or refuse to pay out at all!

I have a friend who owns a bodyshop which specialises in insurance work & he informs me that there have been an increasing number of cases in the past few years where owners have come unstuck in this way.

Be warned.
