What Have I done?

Thought I would have some work done on my doors so that at last they would fit the car as they should, at last. What a big mistake all I have found is lots of patches, on patches, on patches and filler everywhere! The project has only been going since October......

Replacing the door bottom.

And part of the skin.

etc, etc

Once the door was finished we tried to fit it. Guess what, it didn't. Photos to follow shortly.
I may have to sell a kidney or two to finish the car this time!

I must say that Paul at PR Services is a God, whenever I need parts he has them, and he always manages to cheer me up.

Damn!

The consolation, of course, will be how good it all is when it's done :)

I'll have my own 'before, during and after' thing going in a couple of weeks, when I tackle the bit where the floorpan meets the sills, meets the firewall on my 914...

Thanks, that's all I focus on at the moment.
It's just hard when you know there's several hours/days/weeks to go and it's freezing outside.

Can anyone tell me whats happened to the photos. I am sure they were there but they seem to have disappeared.
Or maybe it's just me again. :?

You had the img tags back to front at first (you know that), but they're fine now - I can see them, anyway.

Don't tell anyone but I think I've been an idiot and shouldn't delete them off photobucket!

No it's the coupe. Looks like I'll be going to the International in May in the cabriolet, so long as Paul at PR Services can work his magic on it.

It's amazing how the door fits where it should when you cut out the sill!

The amazing disappearing B Post!

It was a bit rusty at the back of door. As it happens just where the seatbelt is (badly) mounted.
Oh dear.

Can't think where I'd rather be though.

Thought you might like some more photos of the horrors I have uncovered.

Had to cut out in front of the door as it was a bit rusty.

Part of the front wing needed replacing as it had just been bodged with a bit of tin. It didn't line up with the door anymore. Oh dear. :(

However we have now put in the new sill, b post, part of the front and rear wings and part of the floor. Photos to follow when I have time. Now we have to start on the other side..........

Just to update you I have decided to change the colour from the white which I have always hated back to the original colour of Heron Grey.
It seems like a good time to do it as the only parts which wouldn't be painted this time would be the bonnet and engine lids, the roof, dashboard and bumpers!
My wife saw the colour sample and has renamed it Puddle Grey! Anything is better than white though.
