I used to live in a fortress, but the wheels fell of my chariot on the way home a couple of weekends ago

Sean I hate you ! I tried soooo hard to persuade Alan to sell your car to me , I had the cash waiting and everything. 
That has got to be the finest looking 911 ever. Just jaw-dropping. That car is the very reason I've been tempted to misinterpret tangerine when I get my respray ....

Hi Gang..thanks for the nice comments. It really is great to be back on the road....the last 5 months have been one rollercoaster ride. When I get time i'll document the entire events and maybe send it to 911 world or indeed the DDK fanzine. Even down to the last day of collecting the car after the engine was rebuilt...all hell broke loose (with the poor Pilot of my plane having a heart attack just before we were to board, then Vaughan misses his plane, then when James33 does me a major favour and collects me from another airport..the M25 is gridlocked due to a bad bad car crash and then to top everything off the ferry company that I was travelling home on goes on strike). The karma police were out to get me.
Luke - the pics were taken from the decking area of a friend of a friends house. Yes, its a nice place (understatement of the year). But not as nice as Vaughans new castle
John - yes I was and still am absolutley thrilled that Alan kept his word and sold me the car. But my love for the car was tested very early on....and true to form everyone gathered around and helped out.

woah , just read the pelican thread. OK I'll admit I'm glad that wasn't me but I have come close. I took my 2.4S into 9M in Warrington with a troublesome clutch , when they pulled it to bits a Crankshaft bolt had sheared off , the crank survived but if another had gone ......
basically I came within a whisker of a dead crank and block on a super rare matching numbers car. Even if someone could have supplied a suitable crank it would have been 5k easily to repair. As it was 1400 for clutch and oil-fed tensioners wasn't too bad I suppose.
At least you know you've got a solid body and soon you'll have a sound motor too , that's gotta make your car one of the best surviving orig RHD 2.2S's in existance

It's great to see that Sean's car lives and breathes again. I saw it while is was in England and even got to drive it down the road, although I have to admit it was being pushed, as the motor was out. A lovely car

John...no. It just made me appreciate the car a hell of alot more (if that ws possible). My knowledge of the engine has increaed dramtically...which is a very good thing...and i've also made friends with some really great people as a result of the experience.john matthews wrote: Take the edge off at all ?

You don't buy one of these cars without being a Porsche Nut...so when something unexpected happens you'll see it through (and remortgage the house)

Hmm yes well , as it happens I just remortgaged my house , and yes the reason was Porsche-shaped and unexpected.when something unexpected happens you'll see it through (and remortgage the house )
