Hi, can anyone help me identify these wheels, please? They're supposed to be 15"x7 and 15"x8...
I don't have any numbers, only these pictures. What numbers should they have? Any help would be appreciated...

The bottom ones (7x15s) are replicas.

In fact I also think the 8s are replicas but it is hard (er) to tell

Hi,

Some replicas are easier to tell by the way the spooks join the central hub. Replica ones are very tight and angular, while Fuchs are smooth and curved.

I guess most of the identification is down to experience. But remember there are also replica wheels that look very much like the originals (ask me how I know).

I've just checked an (almost lost old) print of Porsche wheel weights someone here was kind enough to send me (I can remmember who... ), and the codes should read 911.361.020.42 or 12 for the 8s, and 901.361.012.05 or 020.41 for the 7s.

So Alan, do you mean that, even if the wheels have these codes and the Fuchs (fox face) logo stamped, they are replicas?

Vasco - 901.361.012.05 is the part number for 7R wheels so you can rule that one out.

7x15's will be:

911.361.020.01 (early for 3-prong centre caps)
911.361.020.11 (later for ring type centre caps)
911.361.020.41 (with black-painted centres)

8x15's will have the equivalent numbers ending in a 2:

911.361.020.02
911.361.020.12
911.361.020.42

Fakes or replica Fuchs will not have these part numbers or the Fuchs 'foxhead' logo & will have a 'rough' finish on the rear as they are cast rather than forged as the original Fuchs wheels are.

Here are some more pictures I've taken myself. As you can see, the codes and the foxhead of the Fuch logo are there, but the way the numbers are stamped on the wheel makes me a bit suspicious... the first ones are upwards and the final 2 numbers are downwards... the sames goes for the wheel size... I'm also sending a picture of the profile and the front of the wheels. I can help noticing that there's a deep "trench" on the inside of the wheel "face"... The finish on the inside is also smooth, not rough at all.
They seem to be real Fuchs, but it looks like they were other size, "enlarged" to became 7 and 8s.
What should be the model year of the car in which these wheels were used? 74 Carrera?

Now I have seen a closer pic (plus you have the numbers) they are real. But that bottom left fuch in the first pic still looks odd, but thats probably my failing eyes.

Thanks again Alan, but was it common procedure to stamp the numbers that way? What car are these wheels from? If they're not 69-73, they're no use for me...

Vasco - those are genuine Fuchs.

The last 2 digits in the part number (911.361.020.xx) are always stamped into the wheel unlike the rest of the part number which is embossed.

Similarly the first part of the size marking (ie the width) is stamped into the wheel.

These wheels ending in '41' & '42' are later (& often thicker/heavier) Fuchs from the early '80's.
