Website about Historic Circuit Racing

I've found this one about rallying which is brilliant and helpful. Is there a definative one about circuit racing? As a drag racer and a circuit novice I'm on a bit of a steep learning curve and don't want any expensive mistakes :P

Hi,

The HSCC site is http://www.hscc.org.uk/ They run series for 70's and earlier..
Top Hat Racing has been taken over by the MasterSeries
and race entry fees are very expensive although they do run longer races.
Membership is expensive as well. There is an interesting
discussion on the pros and cons of Masters v other series on

I personally think at £150 membership for HSCC is good value.
Entry fees vary from race to race.

Paul, having studied the HSCC site for sometime now, is it the case that the only championship that an early 70's 911 can enter is one with an engine limit of 2.2litres :?:

Hi Mike,
Sorry to take so long to answer your question but I had no notification of your post.

Well unfortunately the answer to that question is yes.
The guy who previously raced my car had a long winded
battle to get the car entered. Some of the old farts in the club thought
that Porsches would just wipe the floor with their cars so they
originally voted not to let him enter. After some considerable pressure
from a lot of the pther drivers they relented but limited the car to
2.2 E only.
It is a little silly but the rules say production sports cars made during the seventies
but that doesn't apply to Porsches.

I think there were some attempts to enter a 2.2 S
but even that wasn't allowed.

I can imagine that some of the layter 3.0 cars would provide some serious competition
and that is why, presumably, thay won't allow them in.

It's an ongoing discussion in the club and I think it will
continue for some time.

I have missed the first two races this season because my car was not ready after the engine rebuild,
Racently I had to have an operation on my foot so I had to cancel Silverstone. I really hope to be back for Snetterton in June.

Ps., on topic..

The HSCC have three series for 911's, and two for 914's, and even for 356's there are two.

The Guards Trophy is for appendix K FIA cars..period F is for the really strict pre 66 spec 2L cars. while they have a class of the period J cars, up to end 68..so this includes the first MFI LWB cars..

And there is Classic roadsports, for up to 68 also..

But all these are 2L cars..

So, Paul is right, the 2.2E is the biggest engine.

But there is considerable latitude in the cams etc etc which means power can be anything up to 230 HP, in theory..

Not so just checked this on HSCC web site and it says:

The engine components and ancillaries must be of original specification, must be of the same make, model and type fitted and
conform to a manufacturer’s specification for which period evidence exists.
