Isn't it exciting when you discover newthings about your car

Just after I bought my 2.4S I noticed it had a ring of magnetic style pick-ups on the offside inner CV. Today whilst looking at my carpets I suddenly remembered these pick ups & a throw away comment from a friend asking if the car might have had a Halda or similar fitted for competion ? So I had a good look around under the dash and discovered mounting holes drilled into the bottom of the ash tray which continued through to the under dash :) Looks like some device has been fitted in the past.

So I have concluded my car must have seen some competition in its past life 8) , which I think is quite exciting :)

Just need to trace its history in a bit more detail now :)

Taxi meter? :?

Just kidding but this is of interest to me because my G50 box doesnt have a speedo drive as its from a ABS car where the speedo ran from the ABS sensors so I need to do a similar thing to use with an electronic speedo. Is there any chance you could take a picture of it for me to give me some idea of how the magnets are fixed?

Thanks Steve

Got an email back from Italy, but unfortunatly they can't do anything without details of teh supplying dealer & the original italian registration details.

So just had a word with PorscheUK and they are doing some searches for me :) Hopefully they will turn up some info on teh Italian dealer etc. 8)

BTW, I know Porsche get some negative comments but in my case they have always been extremely helpful 8)

Not a problem my car is totally stripped and waiting for new paint so fitting up a speedo is way off. But thanks in adavance.
