DDK - Die Deutschen Klassiker

My long awaited Targa is finally here. I bought it on the strength of a few pictures in early July and have been rather anxious ever since. I was prepared to be disappointed but am delighted to say that it is really lovely. Everything works well and it is in terrific condition.
There were a few things that were not quite as I had hoped for but they all cosmetic and can all be fairly easily fixed. The carpets are a mess but I expect I can get a set of tan ones from somewhere and the dash top like many from California is cracked - again I expect to be able to do something about it.
I had reservations about white as a colour as my previous Targa was purple. The colour is 132 - 'ivory' and is bright white which really looked lovely when I actually saw it.

It must be because we went up the road so fast when we checked it out. I guess I better scrap it. I don't know - half an hour in the car and I have already wrecked it. Some people never learn!

boobs are out on the front (sic) and replaced by european ones on the back also the headlights will be replaced for european ones

Why?

I'm trying to find some US style QI headlights for my 66 912...with remarkable lack of success!

Do you want the whole US headlamp assemblies or just QI light units ?

I have several sets of US lamps...

Thanks Nick, I will try to take more care of this one. I must remember not to drive in the snow as doing so may have been the final straw for the purple one. It was good fun though.
This time I do hope to keep it at least as long as the last one but I hope to always be able to use it.
The new one looks to be rust free at the moment and it will be waxoyled before I get it so there is more chance of it being ok than last time. I am also getting arch liners fitted. Rather than the Locari (Finnish/German) ones I am getting Tuthills to fit the plastic ones that they use on their rally cars. They are supported by some welded on brackets but are very light and easy to remove for access or cleaning.
One way or another I will try very hard to keep this one servicable for a very long time.

Enjoy your new car. Looks great. If it is ivory 132 it is a rare colour. Most were light ivory 131. Ivory 132 was a special order colour believe it or not.
