Porsche 911-912 Strut braces for DDK members

As some of you may have noticed by my user name (9 Torsion) I have been designing, manufacturing and selling Porsche 911 strut braces on Ebay.

I have been lucky to sell a few over the last year and the design has evolved every time I produce a new batch (improving the design every time). I will never become rich from this, but it helps me restore my old 1976 Carrera 3.

I am just posing the idea on this forum if the members of DDK would be interested in a new designed strut brace for DDK members Cars. I would use all the features of my old design and try and make some more improvements.

Cost is always a difficult subject but I would try and manufacture at a very good price ideally below £50.00 each. I would need to produce a batch of 50 number to get the strut braces below the £50.00. I will try and get the price as low as possible for DDK members and will only be covering my own costs.

If any one’s interested I will start the ball rolling and put forward the new design.

If parties are interested I will only need an email of intent with you name and address. I hope this is okay and that people do not think I am trying to make a quick buck. It would be very nice to see these old Porsches with a product I had designed.

Time scale of 6-8 weeks would probably be the maximum time required to get all the parts manufactured.

Porsche 911 Bolt-on Strut brace Specification.

A classic reproduction of the RS & RSR strut brace, fitted to the early torsion bar cars. Will fit up to model year 1989.

This is the next evolution of my popular strut braces with more design and development giving you more features.

Features include:

1. 3 & 5mm laser cut steel end mount with laser cut strengthening rib tig welded in place.
2. High tensile M10 stainless steel fixings (A2 grade stainless). Could be mild steel to reduce costs.
3. High quality L.H & R.H M10x1.5 rose joints with a static load rating off 16,960 (N) each.
4. 6mm mild steel preload adjustable end mounts.
5. High strength thin wall steel main tube. Tig welded with precision laser cut ends.
6. Main tube and end fitting finished in a durable epoxy powder coat finish (Gloss Black).
7. New feature includes the addition of a second mounting point for a triangulated brace if required.
8. Other design changes to be confirmed

Sounds good, how does it secure to the body? Under the strut top bolts or on a bracket welded to the body?

I would be interested in these, but there seems to be a contradiction here. You say "A classic reproduction of the RS & RSR strut brace" but in the previous sentence "911 Bolt-on Strut brace". The 2.7 RS didn't have a strut brace and the 3.0 RS, 2.8 and 3.0 RSR ones were welded.

Sorry about that me being a bit silly. It is a bolt-on strut brace not weld-on. I did make some weld-on strut braces but only ever sold 10no in 2 years. I suppose the bolt-on strut brace has a classic look (poor I know).
