FUCHS black paint

Post by super_golfer »

Any advice as to what is the best black paint to use to refurbish these wheels? I need to touch up mine, rather than do a full refurbishment. The threads I have read seem to refer to a self etching primer/paint , possibly Wurth?? Is this available in the UK?

I was told Wurth is the best stuff to use but then again I saw another set of wheels done with Simonz satin black over an etch primer and they looked great. Also Simonz is way cheaper then Wurth. I am not sure if you get what you pay for on this one...

I used "plasti-Kote" super enamel 672 satin black and grey primer from Halfords. Cost about £5.00 per can. Did all four wheels a few months ago, so far so good will see how they look after winter.Image

I've done two sets with etch primer and halfords satin black. The first set were deep 6's and were great - didn't peel or chip at all, but the second set (flat 6's) have peeled straight away.

I think this is because the (Eastwood) etch primer doesn't work with anodised surfaces. I'm told that Wurth straight onto the wheel with no primer is fine. Sounds too good to be true but then I havent given it a go yet....
