993 gone, 356 next?

Post by melsomp »

Hi new guy here, I've just sold my 993 Targa, I couldn't get on with the Tiptronic box, now I'm seriously considering buying a turnkey 356 Convertible D (Roadster) from Intermeccanica through their European agent Speedon, I would be very interested to hear your opinions.

No I haven't driven one yet, I will obviously have to do that before making the final decision. I found my 993 dissapointing, it felt very heavy, yes it was fast but it wasn't exactly nimble, and I found the Tiptronic gearbox a hindrance, my wife's Toyota MR2 Mk.3 is very light and is much more fun to drive, I would expect the 356 to be similar to the MR2 in that respect. I guess I'm looking for a fun element and brisk acceleration rather than outright top speed, there are too many speed cameras around for that.
