Are they Recaro ? Perhaps they were supplied to other manufacturers in 1974, e.g. BMW ???

Good hunting, unless of course the next post is along the lines of "so I bought some new ones" :-)

Ian, that web page is seriously out of date. That stock is no longer on offer, those seats went long ago.
I'm sure of that.

I have a pair of the correct early recaro sport seats available if you still need them.

Going back to the window frames, my (Italian) Carrera had them black anodised but just been looking at my 1974 UK options sheet and it says 'Chrome window frames and door handles – Factory option included on British model', so I'm guessing that black was the norm for the Carrera but for some reason UK importers decided that was too dull for the Brits! The same applies to tinted glass – mine didn't have it but looks like all UK cars did.

That is correct Keith, all UK cars as far as I know have tinted glass but there were exceptions to the trim choice with about 20% having black anodised. Interestingly given the discussion about it in this thread 3 of the 5 original Lime Green UK coupes that I know of had black trim.

Virtually all Italian delivery cars came with no options as I believe the tax regime was punitive.

That's a shame, I'd have been very interested if I'd known.

After a long fruitless search I eventually found a pair of the correct seats right under my nose.
Well, metaphorically under my nose.
It transpired that Nick Fulljames of Redtek - my engine builder - had purchased (but not yet collected) a pair of seats for a car he was building.

And, yes Ian, it was the same seats you linked to.
I know they've been sold because I got them.
Mr Fulljames had them set aside in his name for the project he was working on.
That car was - to be rather impolite - of no particular pedigree.
It was a later car built as a racer and it needed seats but any seat would do.

Now Nick realised the seats he'd obtained were rare but also in very poor condition and requiring a full and expensive re-trim.
And I had a very fine pair of later seats in excellent shape.
Mine would bolt straight in with no further expenditure.

So we traded.
Redtek got a pair of wonderful late seventies seats and I got a shagged out pair of mid-seventies seats. And I was delighted.
Delighted to help Redtek and delighted to have acquired some desirable sports seats.
My van was kept busy collecting the correct seats (from South Wales) and delivering my later versions to Redtek at Banbury.

One of the seats was in pretty good shape.
Filthy but not too bad.
