If you want standard Porsche you’ll have to pay big money.

The Porsche offering obviously maintains the factory feel and a sensible mix of performance, comfort and longevity but at £370 + VAT each side does make you pause to think.
I paused and then purchased. I wanted a car that drove just like it did back in the day.

Good to see your quest for originality didn't make Nick's life easier with the SC adjustable spring plates

I've not setup the rear ride heights without adjusters, it must be a sod!

Keith, about £86 + VAT each. I get a little discount off that.

The anti-roll bar mounts were approx £8 each for fronts, £12 for rears. Engine & gearbox bushes (same part number for both) £47. Trailing arm bushes (you'll need 4) £29 a piece.
All prices plus VAT.

Sorry, I'm doing Porsche a disservice on the cost for spring plates.
I checked my quoted price, it was £321 + VAT, minus any discount you can negotiate.

The window frames on my car (when found) were black.
But not as originally produced by Porsche.
They were only painted black and rather poorly.
They were just coloured on the outside face, the interior frames in the car remained silver anodised.
I’m guessing that some clever previous owner decided to modernise his old car to the new style by spray painting the outer face of the frames.
And the car had also been repainted black so evidently the desired look was black all over.

I wanted to convert the frames properly to anodised black because I thought black would look much better in combination with lime green.
Nick Moss has done many trials in attempting to replicate the original black finish used by the factory and he’s mastered it pretty convincingly.
It means anodising the frames (not simply stove enamelling them as some refinishers undertake).
So, I settled on black anodised.
It would be black frames just like these cars....

All the Lime Green Carreras I'd seen were paired with black frames.
Just like the car tested by Road & Track magazine back in late '73.

And the lovely RHD car below it (a 1975 Carrera).

I'd even got Nick to black anodise my frames (pictured here ready to go, hanging on the wall, labelled 'Madden 2.7').

But I began to realise I liked the silver look.
These cars show the effect when trimmed with silver frames.

And Porsche themselves seemed to agree.
The brochure shows the orange cars with black frames but for the lime green car they chose silver frames.

At the time you could specify a lime green car with silver or black frames.
Black anodised frames were becoming common but the silver option remained available.
I’d always imagined black would look much better against the lime green and most cars are finished that way these days.

And then I saw this car....

Wow, it works really well in silver.
And it looks a little more like the early 911’s.
And it’s what my car had originally. And you know what a stickler I am for originality....
Plus it matches the silver headlight rings & silver mirrors.

So, I will stick with the silver frames the car originally had.
And it should look like this:
