Thanks, Darren :) .

Pleased to say that it went through it's MoT (just got back): no problems, and drove pretty nicely really. My oil-change-and-hope-for-the-best approach has been vindicated on the rear axle, and the gearbox is near silent and shifts perfectly with ace synchro's.

The only thing it did do was jump out of third when I gave it a bit more juice :? . Would be a bit strange if there's wear there and nowhere else (on the gearbox). I think I'll lift the lid on the box and double check there's nothing simple before taking it all apart. Funnily enough, it was fine coming home, so I'll drive it as-is for a few days and see how it behaves.

Otherwise it was all fine, and pulled much stronger than I remembered: and this is a new engine without the 'hot' bits fitted yet 8) .

Anyway, couple of pics:

As you can imagine there's now a list of the initial shakedown jobs to work through (couple of hours worth). Hopefully will get the sideglass and Surrey top on over the weekend.

Thanks (again): it will look much better when the Surrey top is on, plus I have indeed got a set of 72 spoke wires to go on, with re-chromed knock-on spinners.

I just left the steelies on for the MoT to save the MoT man having to check all of those spokes ....

Looking v. sweet Barry - bet it sounds good too - would be great if you could keep it in the stable, especially with all that work you put in.

Well done on the MOT - mine is not far off and not looking forward to it, worse than the dentist for me

Hi Chaps: Bert, the car will hopefully on the Northern, and Dyno, it's sure to visit the Fairmile at some point: 1st one being the BBQ evening (wedding day?).

Kev, yes to get the MOT was rather nice: even though I was fairly confident that it would be O.K. it was still a relief to come away with a 'pass'.

I'll see how it goes, but I might give it a run to Goodwood on sunday: just depends on how the week pans out.

COOL, I plan to be there as well. O btw, those tips on my gearbox worked out a treat: every time I put it in first I'm giggling like a girl
